Styled Wedding Shoot | Pike Place Market

Last December, I was lucky enough to be part of Lavender House Event’s styled wedding shoot in Seattle, Washington. I created a custom tapestry based on the color palette that Jenna created - a lovely collection of saturated, earthy tones.

I went to my favorite fiber supplier to put together my fiber palette, Unfettered Art & Supply out of Vancouver Island. They were SO helpful and kind (as always!), taking the time to send comparison photos with different blue options so I could find the best fit from their range.

One thing I learned while making the tapestry is how H E A V Y macrame rope is! I had created a custom stand for hanging the tapestry at the ceremony, but I hadn’t put the whole thing together until we were on the rooftop and I found out the hard way that the tapestry was actually too heavy for the stand. We ended up leaning the tapestry against a corner railing and everything turned out perfectly, but it was a good lesson for both experimentation and structure requirements 😄

Luke & Carin were such an adorable model couple! And Carin was a real trooper - you can’t tell from these photos, but it was chilly in Seattle that day!

I’m incredibly happy with how the ceremony tapestry turned out! It really gave me a taste for wanting to create more wedding tapestries - I make art from and for my own joy, and I loved getting to create a weaving for a wedding event.

Jenna did an amazing job organizing all of us and planning the day - I’ll always recommend her for your event coordination needs, and all the photographers are incredibly talented! ❤️
